Sammy sleeps roughly seventeen hours a day. This is not laziness — it’s Yorkshire Terrier biology. And since he spends the majority of his life horizontal, I’ve come to treat bed selection with the same seriousness I’d apply to any major furniture purchase.

The wrong bed is not just a wasted thirty dollars. A bed that’s too flat means a dog that burrows into your laundry instead. A bed without washable covers means, within a season, a permanent olfactory monument to Yorkie ownership. A bed that’s too soft for a senior dog means joint pain you won’t notice until the limping starts.

These departments cover beds, crates, stairs, carriers, and playpens. If your Yorkie is under three, start with beds and playpens. If yours is seven or older, the orthopedic section is where I’d go first. Sammy is four, and we’re already transitioning to something with more support.
